CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

The Tuckahoe Union Free School District is currently in the process of aligning our instructional programs to New York's Common Core State Standards. The purpose of this transition is to ensure that all students are college and career ready by the time they graduate high school.

"The Standards draw on the most important international models as well as research and input from numerous sources, including state departments of education, scholars, assessment developers, professional organizations, educators from kindergarten through college, and parents, students and other members of the public. In their design and content, refined through successive drafts and numerous rounds of feedback, the Standards represent a synthesis of the best elements of standards-related work to date and an important advance over previous work."
-New York State Education Department

Our school district is committed to providing professional development opportunities to support our teachers and administrators in delivering rich, rigorous programs aligned with the Standards. Examples of our curriculum development work include the alignment of the elementary, middle and high school instructional programs, instructional support for teachers, coordination of all program improvement projects, and the administration and analysis of national, state and district assessments. As new curriculum maps and topic summaries are developed and adopted, we will post them on our website. We will also continue to post links to pertinent information that will assist parents in supporting their children's education.
